Live BootCamps

Picture
Live BootCamps are currently available via web and include a live webinar series, Q&A sessions, practice exercises, online discussions, mock clinics, self-assessments, and blood sugar self-experimentation exercises.

BootCamp for Betics requires an average time commitment of 22.5 hours over the course of three weeks

In the future, we intend to partner with a local organization to offer live, in-person BootCamps as well.

Participants who complete a live BootCamp in its entirety, including submitting blood sugar logs for 3 weeks, will earn a certificate of successful completion.

Family members and friends of people with diabetes may register and attend live BootCamps.

BOOTCAMP FOR BETICS SESSION II DATES: TO BE ANNOUNCED

All bootcamp webinars will be held at 6:30PM Central Time M-Th and are 45 minutes long (12 webinars total). Webinars are recorded for later viewing by participants.

BootCamp for Betics is appropriate for participants who are willing to commit 20-25 hours to improving their diabetic health over the course of three weeks. During BootCamp, participants can expect to conduct more frequent blood sugar testing, maintain glucose levels and treatments via pen and paper ("old-school" style), demonstrate mastery of diabetes math, conduct a multitude self experimentation activities, up to and including: planning and executing mini-fasts, measuring effects of various external stimuli on blood sugar and recording/interpreting results, measuring carbohydrate sensitivities at various times throughout the day, completing mini-quizzes, and more.

What you need in order to participate:
1. A computer that complies with the GoToWebinar (our webcast service) requirements.
2. An email address
3. A high-speed internet connection
4. Computer Speakers that work, or else a phone (so you can connect to the webcast audio)
5. A printer (for downloading and printing instructions and forms)
6. Ability to use a keyboard and mouse
7. Known exercise limitations (if any) as prescribed by your physician
8. A glucose meter and 100 strips (more if possible), a finger-poker and lancets. Note: If you don't have strips or a meter, get some. Many insurance companies pay for a portion of your test strips if you have a doctor's prescription. If your insurance company provides rotten coverage or if you don't have insurance at all, you can get a meter and strips at Wal-Mart (the Reli-On brand) for a reasonable price.
